Japanese Wineberry

A striking red-stemmed medium size trailing shrub, growing to 2m (6 ft) high with prickly trailing biennial stems which root at the tips.

It produces large crops of very nice raspberry-like sticky sweet fruits in summer; the fruits are well-protected by a calyx until they ripen thus suffer less bird and insect damage.
