Description
An upright shrub with slender dark green shoots and narrow dark green leaves, growing to 3m high. It bears numerous pea-like, fragrant yellow flowers from early summer to early autumn.
A fibre is made from the stems which is used for rope and fabrics. Small stems are used for basketry. The flowers can be used to dye yellow, and an essential oil is made from the flowers and used in perfumery.
It needs a well-drained soil and full sun - thrives in coastal situations.
