Description
A large upright shrub or small tree, with large white and carmine flowers in May. Followed by walnut-like capsules containing numerous small chestnut-like seeds. These seeds are edible and nutty; leaves and flowers are also edible.
It is prized for being a "must-have" for collectors, featuring fern-like foliage that turns orange/purple in autumn.
