Description

Dual purpose apple. Pick Sept-Oct, stores til March. If it is stored until the spring, it loses enough of its sharpness to be eaten fresh as a crisp dessert apple. Large, perfectly round, handsome fruits with smooth skin. The skin starts as a pale, clean green and ripens into a brilliant, translucent uniform golden yellow, occasionally showing subtle green flecking or a faint pink flush. It is a premier cooking apple. Because it possesses a natural, fruity sweetness, it requires very little added sugar when baked into traditional pies or tarts. It cooks down into a beautifully frothy, golden puree, yet individual slices can hold their shape well if handled gently. Unlike the massive, unruly growth of a Bramley's Seedling, the Golden Noble naturally grows in a very neat, compact, and tidy fashion. Partial tip-bearer.
