Description

Dual purpose apple. Pick September, use til November. Pollination Group 4 / Group D. Developed in 1892 at the world-famous Rivers Nursery in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England. Medium-sized with an irregular, ribbed, and oblong to oblong-conical shape. The skin has a pale yellow base color, heavily washed with a dull red flush and broken, darker red stripes on the side that faces the sun. It is typically speckled with light-colored lenticels (dots). The flesh is cream-colored, notably crisp, and very firm. It has a sharply acidic, brisk flavor with a remarkably distinct, subtle undertone of pears.
