Description
A medium-sized tree from East Asia, bearing yellow or purple edible fruits the size of small tomatoes; these have an excellent rich flavour when fully ripe (may require bletting or allowed to be frosted to remove astringency) which bear readily in Southern England. Likes a moist site in sun or part shade; hardy to -23°C. Plants are seedlings.
Please note, the plants are generally dioecious (opinions do differ as to whether they are unisexual or dioecious). So, we would advise you to consider ordering a few plants (of the same variety) to achieve a greater yield of fruits.
They may cross pollinate with the other Diospyros species.
