Description
A small leguminous tree from central and Southern Europe, with masses of bright yellow flowers in spring. A popular ornamental. A good nitrogen-fixing species which succeeds in almost any situation.
The timber is one of the hardest and heaviest of all European trees: it is valued for cabinet and instrument making. Like other Laburnums, the leaves and seeds (borne in pods) are poisonous.
