Description
A small tree from China and Mongolia (not Japan!). Has ornamental, glossy foliage. The enlarged fruit stalks are edible, being sweet, succulent and with a raisin-like flavour. Also used medicinally. This species is used in China in the reforestation of sandy soils.
Likes a well-drained soil and full sun.
