Perennial, likes a well drained soil, has wonderful flavoured leaves for flavouring, salads, making teas etc. Much loved by bees.
When crushed, the foliage releases a strong citrus or oregano scent.
Prized for its high concentrations of thymol and citronellol, which can be used medicinally or as an insect repellant.
