Mulberry 'Illinois Everbearing'

A hybrid bred in the USA, fruiting at a very early age (2-3 years) and producing good-flavoured black fruits over a long 2-3 month period.

Leaves are large and heart-shaped and turn a striking, vivid yellow in autumn.

Mulberry leaves are high in protein and contain lots of antioxidants. They have also been used medicinally to help reduce blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and inflammation. The young, tender leaves can be eaten fresh, or cooked and leaves (any age) made into tea, or powdered to take as a supplement.

Typically grows to a height and spread of 6 to 8 metres when mature, but can be kept smaller with pruning. Fast growing, even in poor soils. Prefers moist well-drained soils but otherwise adaptable.
