Description
Has great edible young leaves all through the growing season for salads. Use them as a base ingredient instead of something like lettuce. To manage as a leaf crop, coppice or pollard trees every 1-5 years to keep them bushy.
If left as a standard tree, it will produce massive amounts of fragrant flowers in Summer which are very popular with the bees. Flowers are medicinal and make a great sleepy tea.
Prefers moist, well-drained soil but is drought-tolerant once established. It can withstand short-term flooding and is highly resistant to pollution.
