Description

A shrub to 4m high, closely related to the guelder rose. Bears good crops of bright red fruits up to 12 mm across, which can be made into a slightly bitter jelly like rowan jelly.

Phillips bears fruits less bitter, produced in large clusters.

Prefers consistently moist, well-drained soils, but adapts well to average garden loams, heavy clays, and moist site edges like ponds or streams.
