Description
A small evergreen tree or bushy shrub, normally to 3-5m high.
Fruits of females are small, fleshy, olive-sized fruit that are butterscotch-pinenut flavoured – sweet, juicy, and faintly resinous notes. Often described as a mix between persimmon, mango, pine, and honey. Makes a delicious tea. The oil-rich seeds are also edible.
Dioecious, so grow several seedlings for both sexes to be present or purchase sexed saplings (rarely available).
