Nodding Onion

Perennial liking sun or shade. Grows to about 70 cm tall, with nodding flower heads. Edible parts include the bulbs (strong flavour), leaves (delicious in salads) and flowers.

Its main requirement is that the site must be well-drained; it dislikes winter waterlogging. Once its bulbous root system is established, it is remarkably drought-tolerant and handles hot, dry summers beautifully.
