Red Banana Passionfruit 'Hill House'
Description
Passiflora antioquiensis is a rare gem from the cool rainforests of Colombia. Its oversized flowers are one of the largest of all Passiflora species. This particular variety was propagated from the Hill House Nursery in Landscove, South Devon (one of my favourite places on earth!) before its closure in 2025.
The fluorescent reddish-pink blooms dangle from incredibly long stems up to 1m long! Its banana-shaped fruits are considered by some to be the tastiest of all Passionfruit species.
Edible, yellow fruits known for their sweet, aromatic pulp, often described as having a delicate, tropical, or vanilla-like flavour.
Self fertile but not self-pollinating, so will need hand pollinating if grown inside. Pollinated by hummingbirds in the wild.
