Description
Walnut-like edible nuts in autumn, excellent firewood, and dense, shock-resistant wood used for tools and smoking meats. The bark, which peels in long, shaggy strips, can be used to make a maple-like syrup, while the tree itself is a crucial food source for wildlife and offers significant landscaping value.
A variety with nuts which crack easily, produced in quite good quantities. Seedlings of good fruiting cultivars.
Striking yellow autumn colour.
