Description
Szechuan pepper. A very aromatic shrub from China and Japan growing 2m (6 ft)+ high. The leaves and young fruits can be used as a flavouring, but the main use is the outer pinkish-red husks (pods), which are used a spice (peppery and fragrant). These are grown commercially as a spice crop in Asia and crop incredibly well in England.
Grows well in any reasonable soil in sun or light shade and should start producing after 3 years.
